Spotify announces the official launch of Spotify Island on Roblox

Audio streaming platform, Spotify has announced that it is the first music streaming company to have an official presence on Roblox, a game creation platform. According to sources, Spotify Island is introduced to the gaming platform where players can gather to play communal quests, buy artist merchandise and unlock exclusive features.

Introduced in Roblox, Spotify Island will comprise a central mainland that will be surrounded by a collection of themed islands, which users can explore and interact with by walking, jumping, running, and picking up several objects. The island world has a colorful theme with Spotify’s shades of green mixed with oranges and purples.

The company says that there is also a musical playbox located at the top right corner of Spotify Island, which will be featuring a soundtrack powered by Spotify’s audio creation tool, Soundtrap. The music here can be played, paused or players can skip the tracks as well.

The merchandise store in the gaming platform will feature several exclusive Spotify merchandises that can be taken into other parts of Roblox. Besides this, the exclusive artist merch will serve as an additional revenue source for creators.

The audio streaming company says that the artist will be allowed to keep Spotify’s portion of those merchandise sales and Spotify can help them with merch design if required.

The company says that Spotify’s aim for the island is to turn Roblox's players into creators. It plans on doing this by letting players create sound at its virtual beat-maker hubs powered by Soundtrap and by making players move around the stage area where they can interact with items like bubbles and confetti canon, hence becoming performers themselves.

Spotify, which is already having 2.2 million gaming-related soundtracks, said it sees the potential to reach maximum Gen-Z music fans with the launch of its game experience- Spotify Island on Roblox.
