Verizon confirms 5G network expansion to four additional U.S. cities

Verizon, the American telecommunications company, has recently announced that its 5G network has been expanded to four more cities in the US. Now, customers in Detroit, Atlanta, Washington, DC, and Indianapolis will be able to connect to the next-generation wireless network offered by the company.
Apparently, the additions mean that 5G network of Verizon is presently available in nine US cities, after formerly rolling out in Chicago, Denver, Providence, Minneapolis and St. Paul, the state capital of Minnesota. The company states that its 5G network will be live over 30 cities by the end of 2019.
Sources close to the matter informed that when Verizon tried the network for themselves in Chicago, the company found that it was capable of speeds of up to a gigabit per second. However, its dependency on using mmWave technology meant that these speeds were focused in vastly specific areas, and coverage inside of buildings were essentially non-existent.
The guidance from Verizon about its 5G coverage in Washington, DC explains the issue, as it names very specific locations where one can easily connect to the future generation network. Seemingly, in Washington DC, government agencies, businesses, and consumers can primarily access 5G Ultra-Wideband service of Verizon in different areas such as Eckington, Dupont Circle, Judiciary Square, Brentwood and Foggy Bottom, among many others.
Sources further stated that in terms of 5G deployment, Verizon continues to lead the world. In October 2018, Verizon was the first company to provide commercial 5G service, with the introduction of 5G Home as well as offering customers a commercially available 5G-enabled smartphone and 5G network. It also launched 5G Ultra-Wideband service in Minneapolis and Chicago coupled with 5G Moto mod and Moto z3 in April 2019.
Supposedly, the speed and bandwidth benefits of 5G Ultra-Wideband service of Verizon is available now in urban and dense areas where people tend to assemble at monuments, public parks, college campuses, and outside museums.
