Indian restaurant aggregator and food delivery company, Zomato is looking to work under a multiple- CEO structure as hinted by its Founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal. This approach comes following the firm’s successful acquisition of Blinkit, a grocery delivery startup that was previously known as Grofers, which was approved by shareholders recently.
In a post, Mr. Goyal stated that as Zomato's Blinkit deal is approved, the firm now holds three companies, including Zomato, Blinkit and Hyperpure - in the order of business size/impact.
The firm is at a stage where it is maturing from moving a single business to operating several big companies.
It is transforming now and will have multiple CEOs instead of one for running each business separately. All of them will work together as peers to each other, and finally, become a team that works to build a single large and seamless organization.
He further said that this large organization will be known as Eternal from now onwards.
Goyal explained that Eternal means a mission statement on its own and something meant to be forever and last more than just a few lifetimes.
Credible sources cite that Goyal hovers on the company's slack channel with many ideas, so one cannot be sure if they will be implemented. But the message indicates that he wants to remodel Zomato into a group company that will have a range of business interests, following one of its largest shareholders and early investors - Info Edge.
Furthermore, the firm is already running on this path with finalizing the strategic as well as financial investments in several startups since going public last year, as it pursues to enlarge beyond food delivery to logistics and food robotics.
